Frequently asked questions

When do I send an investor one-pager vs. a full pitch deck?

Send the one-pager BEFORE the meeting (warm intros, cold outreach, follow-up after a partner referral). Send the full deck DURING the meeting or as a follow-up to a meeting that went well. The one-pager exists to earn the meeting; the deck exists to drive a decision once you have their attention. Most founders make the mistake of leading with the deck, which is too long for cold outreach but too thin for a real meeting.

What stage of fundraising needs a one-pager?

All of them, but especially pre-seed and seed where deal flow is informal and inboxes are crowded. At Series A and later, investors expect a more developed data room — but the one-pager still serves as the cover document that gets the data room opened. Many founders skip the one-pager and just send the deck; the founders who include both consistently get faster responses.

Can I use the one-pager for non-investor audiences?

Yes, with light edits. The same structure works for: sales-side intros at large enterprises, journalist pitches, advisor outreach, and acquisition conversations. Replace the 'Ask & use of funds' section with a CTA appropriate to the audience (book a demo, schedule a briefing, request a quote).
